| Letters from the PA |
Hello from the PA
Hello!
Our parents association started in September 2005, so we haven't really been going for that long. However, in that short space of time we have achieved many things that have made a difference.
We raise money by creating and selling items on our own stall. We have a stall at Christmas, Mothering Sunday, Easter and of course the summer fayre. Throughout the year we also have coffee mornings after the children's assemblies selling tea, coffee, biscuits and chocolate bars. We also provide a lovely raffle.

We have just enjoyed our second school summer disco. This is something that we in the Parents Association like to give to the children to celebrate the end of another year, and yet again it was a success.
Saint David's day is always celebrated with a fantastic Eisteddfod which the whole school takes part in. If you're lucky enough even the parents get called up to folk dance!
The PA is there in the background providing refreshments and a raffle. Last year, one of the mothers kindly donated a fabulous homemade cake of Dai the dragon as a raffle prize, which raised a lot of money for the school.
We don't just sell items; we help around the school too. We have painted the playground, built picnic benches, helped to create a lovely garden and we help to run the yearly book fayre. We are always on hand to help out any way we can.
We have raised money for a wooden train for the playground for the children to play on. We approached the Principality in Queen Street, Cardiff, and they very kindly donated £500 to the school for new dictionaries and Bibles which were desperately needed. Christmas time last year the Principality approached us to donate 64 pairs of pantomime tickets which were used as prizes for the children.
We have just finished a recycling campaign for mobile phones and in reaching our target we have raised £300 which will go towards some new cameras needed in the sports department.
Last term we organised a Bag2school campaign where people brought in bags of old clothes, shoes, curtains etc, and we sent them of to be weighed and raised £135. Fantastic!
All this could not have been done without the help of all the parents and children who support us in everything we do. A big thank you to you all!

We only have 6 official members of the PA and we are always looking to recruit more! We are a fun loving group and all we want is to help to make our school exciting for the children.
We try to meet up once a fortnight, just to make sure everyone is aware of what is coming up. Our meetings usually last all of 15 minutes - then we talk about the weather, or what was on the telly last night, so you see we are not very strict or bossy. We just use it as an excuse to have a chat and a coffee!
If you are interested in becoming a member, please contact the school or come and chat to one of us. We won't bite - honest!
We will look forward to meeting you at our next meeting!
Thanks,
Keep Smiling!
